Présentation
BECOMING A POLITICAL ENTREPRENEUR OF CAMEROON AN ESSAY ON THE POLITICAL PROFESSIONALIZATION OF CABRAL LIBII 2004-2020 Intended for teachers, researchers, students, political professionals, and anyone interested in the transformations of political life, this study invites reflection on the mechanisms of elite renewal, changes in political engagement, and the conditions under which politics becomes a profession. Grounded in the Cameroonian context, it opens avenues for reflection across Africa and beyond. Drawing on Cabral LIBII’s trajectory, the author examines five major dimensions of the construction of a political career: 1. Seizing political opportunities, by identifying circumstances conducive to the emergence of a new actor in a highly competitive political field. 2. Building political capital, by mobilizing and converting social, cultural, symbolic, and economic resources into instruments of recognition and legitimation. 3. Using digital tools, particularly social media, in strategies for visibility, communication, and political mobilization. 4. Formulating a political alternative that breaks with the established order, grounded in a discourse advocating the renewal of political actors, representations, and practices. 5. The trials of political professionalization, marked by organizational constraints, power struggles, and difficulties in consolidating a lasting position within the political field.
